New Construction

this new construction is located in a historic vacation community dating back to the early 1800’s, and walking distance to the bay.

This family had a long family tradition of vacationing in this private community. When they decided to build, they chose a new one acre lot with frontage on two streets, each with long rows of Sycamore trees. The design was intended for year round occasional visits, with just enough space for relaxation and entertainment.

Exterior & Grounds

The style of this home was designed to fit into the surrounding vacation community with its 19th century bay front bungalows. I designed a multi-gabled nautical themed home taking into account the beautiful west and north water views.

The husband and wife are boaters and car collectors who spend winters in Florida. They wanted to build a more comfortable vacation house a bit away from their house right on the bay to avoid the high winds off of the water. Plenty of recreational storage was a priority to support their lifestyle and activities of leisure.

Interior

Central to the interior design of this home was year-round comfort. We installed a radiant heated stone floor in the beaded wainscot wall and ceiling porch which makes for a nice spot to read the Sunday paper or watch a football game.

The formal living room is two stories in height with a custom formed concrete fireplace mantle. It has windows and glass doors on three sides allowing it to be light filled and have access to a stone terrace.

Kitchen & Bath

A rectangular, efficient formal-style kitchen plan with central island was designed to capture views out to the water. Limestone countertops contrast with natural cherry cabinetry and Viking stainless steel appliances.

The master bath was luxuriously planned to be quite large with a separate tile shower, soaking whirlpool tub and double sink vanity, taking advantage of the setting western sun.
