The lot for this new-build home was covered considerably with large trees and ground vegetation, requiring a unique approach to the project.

We built this home “in reverse” in order to protect the natural vegetation on the grounds that was required by Village code to stay. We started with the tennis court and swimming pool then worked our way toward the house, all the way to the street. This new home was for a young family, moving from the city to the Hamptons as year round residents. Privacy and play areas were the focal points for this family’s vision.

Exterior & Grounds

We used a mix of New England wall stone base, cedar wood shingles and vertical board and batten siding to create a modern barn style home. The athletically inclined family wanted a tennis court and swimming pool for their outdoor recreation.

Interior

Centrally located, the two-story, two-sided stone fireplace grounded the whole house. The second story included the master wing of the house for the husband and wife, while the children’s and guest rooms were on the opposite side, creating privacy for all. The whole house was designed with the children and parents’ separate needs in mind. Year round storage space, a mud room, pantry, large laundry storage were all custom designed to meet these needs.

Kitchen & Bath

The kitchen was designed for serious cooking, featuring an island with seating and a separate liquor bar designed for indoor and outdoor parties. The kitchen also has dedicated play space for the children with direct access to the pool and tennis court.

A separate “public” shower and changing room off the pool deck has its own sauna and steam rooms.
